Finding Inner Peace: Balayogi Returns to Austin to Bring Meditation and Discourse

By April 30, 2017Local

Baba Shiva Rudra Balayogi, who is recognized as one of the great self-realized yogis of our era, will be visiting Austin May 18 through 28 to conduct a series of free meditation classes and answer questions on meditation, selfrealization and finding inner peace. Balayogi will appear at Yoga Yoga Westgate from 7 to 9:30 p.m., May 20; at One World Theater from 7 to 9:30 p.m., May 22; and he will lead a four-day meditation intensive at Alma de Mujer Center, May 24 through 28. Participants may attend any portion of the intensive or stay fulltime in residence at the facility. All programs are suitable for beginner or advanced meditators.

The core of Baba’s teaching is, “People are suffering because they have forgotten the liberating truth of who they are. Among the thousands of thoughts that appear in our busy mind each day, there is one thing that is not a thought— our consciousness of existing. The silent witness to the mind is the true self. Without direct experience of this higher reality, it is not possible to stop suffering. By silencing the mind with meditation, we come face-to-face with the truth of existence, a state of consciousness in which supreme peace is the reality.”
