Gurukul Yoga Holistic Center (GYHC) is a Science of Living Institution offering authentic holistic services including yoga, nutrition and Reiki with locations in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and in Austin. To get into the fall back-to-school spirit, GYHC is accepting enrollments for its yoga teacher/therapist training program (GY-TTP) that begins in October. Recognized by the Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists (supporting member school), the GY-TTP runs from nine months to over a year. Natural Awakenings readers that mention this Event Spotlight receive a free gift and a $50 discount off tuition.

GY-TTP includes authentic classical yoga practice with the master coaches; theory/instruction including study of ancient and modern texts on yoga, Ayurveda and anatomy/physiology; Karma Yoga—selfless service—offering time and skills promoting personal growth. Classes meet primarily on weekends for practice and on weeknights for online audio/video instruction. According to GYHC co-founder Manju Joshi, the class teams are kept small and classes are held in a friendly, warm atmosphere where authenticity, originality and simplicity are some of the special attributes. Program participants also complete a research paper, thesis and presentation. The advanced GY-TTP contains more research components, a deeper focus on practices and trials for various ailments and audiences.

Master coaches Manju and Prashant Joshi, co-founders of GYHC, have been serving the community since 1991 in New York City, New Jersey and now in Austin. GYHC opened its doors in Bridgewater in 2006 and in Austin in 2013. GY-TTP began in 2009 and is in its seventh year. Graduates of GY-TTP are from all walks of life—doctors, nurses and high school seniors)—ages 18 to 60-plus. GYHC also offers authentic holistic services including private and group yoga therapy, laughter therapy, aromatherapy, Reiki and nutrition for all age groups.
