The first-ever Camp Yogi will be held August 19 through 21 at The Retreat at Balcones Springs, near Marble Falls. Organized by a group of yoga-loving Austinites, the event is designed to bring together a younger demographic of yogis for a weekend of practice, play and presence.
The weekend is designed to be much like a retreat, only with summer camp elements sprinkled throughout. Camp Yogi participants will have the opportunity to zip-line across the retreat’s 10-acre private lake, dance around the bonfire while indulging in s’mores, play with the farm animals and indulge in craft time. Camp Yogi will also feature four separate group practices and a variety of workshops for campers to enjoy including Acro Yoga (a practice that combines yoga and acrobatics), stand up paddleboard (SUP) yoga, horseback yoga and more.
“We saw a bit of a gap for young yogis to escape for a weekend and not spend a fortune. We want Camp Yogi to be a premier getaway for Austin yogis,” says Danielle Bryan, Camp Yogi event producer and founder of the DragonFit fitness community.
Campers will receive bunkhouse lodging, all meals, practices, workshops and a Camp Yogi T-shirt; limited cabin lodging is available for an additional cost. Austin-based businesses and organizations can also become sponsors.
Cost: $350; lodging costs vary; see website for details. Location: 104 Balcones Springs Dr., Marble Falls. For more information or to register, visit CampYogiATX.com.
