Meditation master Shiva Rudra Balayogi, also known as Babaji, returns to the Austin area May 16 through 22 to teach a series of free meditation programs. The Austin retreats will take place as follows: 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., May 16 at The Austin Centre; 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., May 22 at Yoga Yoga Westgate; and a meditation intensive 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. May 17 through 20; and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 21 at Alma De Mujer Retreat Center.
As a self-realized lifelong monk from the Himalayan foothills, Babaji teaches from the authority of personal experience with an exceptional ability to communicate essential spiritual truths in a clear and relevant way. During his world tours, he continues to promote the message that with regular meditation, humankind can live a beautiful life of peace, happiness, love and honor for one another.
Scientific research has demonstrated for more than 40 years that meditation has both physiological and psychological benefits. Meditation is a technique that reduces mental activity, bringing quietness to the mind and deep rest to the body. People meditate daily to be more productive and to feel better throughout the day.
Ancient Sages, yogis and spiritual teachers have advocated meditation for a higher purpose, or “to know thy self.” To quote Babaji, “Silence your mind through meditation and know your true self to be the eternal consciousness of existence.” He reiterates that while in deep meditation, the mind becomes completely silent and one exists peacefully as unbounded awareness.
In this rare opportunity, Babaji will teach meditation and give instruction to all wishing to learn the ancient practice of jangama dhyana—the method he used to obtain selfrealization. Babaji will also answer questions on meditation, spirituality and self-knowledge.
