According to a recent Chronic Pain Survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics, 76.5 million Americans reported a problem with pain that persisted for more than 24 hours. More than 51 percent of the respondents felt that they had little or no control over their pain, and 60 percent admitted that they experienced the intensity of pain one or more times each day, severely impacting the quality of their life and overall well-being.
After suffering a crippling accident while building a successful ranching and logging operation, Dr. Gary Young was informed by specialists that he would be paralyzed for life. After two years of intense pain and dedicated personal research into acupressure, herbalism, nutrition and aromatherapy, he discovered the innate power of essential oils to combat disease, preserve health and promote natural and healthy lifestyles.
Young worked with a Lakota elder named Wallace Black Elk and learned that the Lakota people went to Canada to experience the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. Their cultural experience included raising their hands toward the light and breathing in the energy of the lights for healing purposes. Once the Lakota people could no longer cross the border freely, they created a stroking technique along the spine using a feather that simulated the healing energy of the Aurora Borealis.
Young began incorporating this technique into his own healing and developed a therapeutic modality termed “Raindrop Technique”, which began to relieve his pain and eventually resulted in his regaining complete feeling and mobility. Thirteen years later, he competed in a half marathon.
The Raindrop Technique uses Vita Flex, reflexology, massage techniques and essential oils applied on various locations of the body to bring it structural and electrical alignment. The frequency of essential oils aligns the energy centers of the body and releases them, if blocked, without using hard pressure or trying to force the body to change, which should never be done.
Essential oils are dropped from about six inches above the spine, simulating raindrops. It feels like a raindrop gently striking the spine and is very relaxing and comforting. Young found that combining several holistic techniques created a synergistic effect for the body. The three modalities that combine to form Raindrop Technique are aromatherapy; vita flex, an ancient Tibetan healing method meaning “vitality through the reflexes”; and feather stroking, similar to a massage technique called effleurage, commonly used by Native American Indians.
The Raindrop Technique balances and realigns the energy centers of the body; supports the body to come back into balance by opening energy flow and increasing molecular frequency throughout the body; reduces stress and minor anxiety and enhances emotions like joy and happiness; aids the body’s natural response to irritation and injury; supports the immune, respiratory, nervous and other body systems; eases muscle, bone and joint discomfort; improves immune system functions; enhances emotional well-being and release as the essential oils cross the blood-brain barrier and affect the limbic system where emotions are stored; and helps detoxify the body systems and enhance the lymphatic system.
