Project Transitions, an organization dedicated to providing supportive living, housing and hospice services in compassionate and caring environments, will host its 26th annual Holiday Swing fundraiser from 7 to 11:30 p.m., December 5, at the Double Tree Hotel Austin. The Holiday Swing gives Austinites the chance to kick up their heels to the hot sounds of big band, jazz, hip-hop and more while helping a worthy cause.
The event begins with a pre-party at RAIN on 4th lounge. Free shuttle service will be provided from RAIN on 4th to the Holiday Swing. Guests can arrive at 7 p.m. to participate in dance lessons led by Go Dance. Following the dance instruction, at 8 p.m., attendees will enjoy big band swing performances by Sentimental Journey Orchestra in the main ballroom. Guests that enjoy jazz will love the hip stylings of The Studebakers. DJ Bigface will also provide hip-hop, pop, rock, soul and funk to dance the night away. There will also be a silent auction with hundreds of items up for bidding.
The Holiday Swing event is Project Transitions’ largest fundraiser. Through the generosity of platinum sponsors Alori Properties and HEB, 100 percent of funds raised at Holiday Swing will go directly to fund Project Transitions’ programs: supportive living, housing and hospice for people living with HIV and AIDS.
Project Transitions has been serving Central Texas since 1989. In addition to hospice care at Doug’s House, Project Transitions offers transitional housing at Roosevelt Gardens and Highland Terrace, as well as the Community Housing program. Nobody is turned away because of inability to pay. Project Transitions also operates Top Drawer Thrift Store.
Location: 6505 N. Interstate Hwy. 35, Austin. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 512-454-8646 or visit HolidaySwing.org.
