The nonprofit Texas Veg Foundation will orchestrate the fifth annual Texas VegFest, a free public education event that celebrates the health, environmental and animal welfare benefits of a plant-based diet. The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 2, at Fiesta Gardens. This year, Texas VegFest has partnered with like-minded, inspirational speakers, sponsors, vendors and nonprofits to provide a whole day’s worth of education, fun and tasty eats.
The event promises appearances by Olympic skier, actor and writer, Seba Johnson, along with “The Naked Chef” Jacques Laventure; Joyce Tischler with the Animal Legal Defense Fund; physician and author Brooke Goldner, M.D., “The Taco Cleanse Scientist”; and Jessica Pavs from the Natural Epicurean. Presentations begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Fiesta Garden side.
In addition to engaging talks, attendees can enjoy live music from The Jetsuns, One World (R)evolution, Seven Circles and more. Premier vegetarian food vendors present will include Sweet Ritual ice cream, Rabbit Food Grocery, Counter Culture vegan restaurant, Seed Catering Co. and over 75 other food and product vendors offering plant-based food and consumables. Craft beer will be available for purchase, and both adults and youth can partake in activities throughout the day such as Zumba, yoga, face painting, cooking demonstrations, animal education lectures and more.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund, The Stanford Inn by the Sea, VegNews, Natural Epicurean, Herbivore Clothing, Capital City Bakery, Austin Bhakti Yoga, Vitamix and Barefoot Chiropractic are sponsors of this year’s VegFest.
